1 month down, 23 to go.
Dad and Mom,
Well, it snowed 14 inches on Sunday and lets just say that I have been walking around in it for about 3.5 days. I am starting to see why you don't like it very much. But my boots are the best thing I have in the clothing department. My feet are dry and warm. I love it. I can't feel the rest of me, but my feet are warm. The high yesterday was 15° F. That was a little cold. And I thought of you with your, "Maybe 40°" weather and had a good laugh. Ha Ha!

I totally forgot about that computer. Sorry you had to fix it. I should have left things a little better.

I do not have email because Elders before me miss-used it. Maybe later in my mission, but not now. Nor can I access grandmasweb.

Well, we had two or three people on date to be baptized, but not any more because of one reason or another. So Missionary work is hard, but I have not given up yet!!! Well, it sounds like the house is as fun as ever. I am 19 now and I don't feel any different, but I don't know.

Did you post my address on the Internet? Could you tell the family to check that address on line, so when I get transferred I will write with my new address and then you can post it, so mail does not get sent to the old apartment. We get old missionaries mail and it just sits here. So when I get transferred you put the new address on line and tell the family to check on line before they write, ok?

It is hard to get out of the Alan Hatch mind set when in stores and get in the Elder Hatch mode. I still look at stuff that I would have bought back at home, but I have not bought anything stupid or worthless. I am really good at shopping. I have gone to the store twice and spent $35 or so and gotten things I needed and am doing well. I am ready for the spices and yeast, if you could send them to me that would be good. Could you also send me the shoe dye because they need some more coats of dye?

Well, I think that is about all from Washington. I am doing good. I miss being home just because I could do what I wanted and I miss Nona Maria's. Did you ever get my check from them?

This is really hard work. It is hard trying to talk to everyone, but I am getting better at it. Walking in snow is hard work. Yesterday we walked about 15 miles in the snow/slush. I though about why I was doing that and I decided that it was the love for my Savior and for my family and the people I will find and teach and baptize. I love this work and will work with all my might and zeal because I know this church is true. I would not be here if it wasn't. But, oh well.

Well, I love you and miss you. Write me because I love hearing from you. Well, have a good week. I love you both.
