Look at the photo, read the letter, and tell me it isn't amazing how people change.

Mom and Dad,

Well, time is sure on the run these days. I feel like I will never catch up. There is so much to do and so many people to see and talk to. Yesterday was Zone Conference and the meeting was 5½ hours long and lets say I got NOTHING out of it. I feel like I wasted the Lord's time. But you do that the Mission President (priesthood leader) tells you to, so I went and participated.

Last weekend I had my first baptism as a senior companion. Well, ok, two people got baptized and I was privileged to do one. I love exercising the authority of Jesus Christ.

So, you finished your treck across America. Sounds like a long ride to me, but to each their own.

Since I have come on my mission I have set goals for myself, one being to have better dental care, and so I brush twice a day to keep my teeth strong.

So, how about those Packers? 4 and 0. The Packers are looking good. Farve looks like he is 25 again and is playing like it. We will see, maybe he will retire with a super bowl ring, you never know!

Being a senior companion has taught me a lot about myself. It showed me my true desire to serve the Lord, because now it is all up to me to say what, where, when, and how we do things. If I want to waste time I can, or if I want to work hard I do so. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be a senior companion.

Well, I am out of room and news, so I will talk to you later. I love you both and miss you.

Love, Elder Alan Hatch, II
