I visited Nathen's house a couple of weeks ago (for some reason that now eludes me) and came away with these three images. I continue to be amazed at how fast children change. Janelle is much more mobile now...

OK, maybe these images are older than I first thought.

Landon continues to develop and is starting to acquire some definite opinions.

Perhaps it comes from having older male siblings, but Rachel appears to have developed a pugilistic streak. With a countenance like that, you wouldn't want to run into her in a dark alley...

When I had just about given up hope, it finally happened. Brittney and AJ (aka middle Alan [or "Mid" for short]) have joined the ranks of parenthood. Read their faces and tell me what they are thinking...

The commonly accepted wisdom is that good things come to those who wait, or in my lexicon, "To everything there is a season..."

Every now and then things work out just right for me. Isn't this a classic pose?

Watching her, you may have come away with the idea that Verdean had never held one of her grandkids before...

But Barbara wasn't far behind...

Josh (and the rest of us) had to struggle for a turn...

And, of course, when it was my turn, he decided his lungs needed some exercise...

Back lighting doesn't make for good photography, but it does produce some interesting silhouettes. Is it obvious who this is?

AJ appears to be a lot more "hands on" than I was with my first one. I suspect that might be a good thing.

And the circle of life continues.

Dave Elliott and I decided it was time for another get together. Dave had never visited Muley Point, although he had lived within 100 miles of it for multiple decades.

We had planned a four day, three night outing, but forecast rain and high wind (gusts up to 38 mph), coupled with the fact that I've become something of a wimp, turned it into a two day, one night trip.

In addition to Muley Point, we drove through the, "Valley of the Gods." It is a small scale relative of Monument Valley, and is ranked (by Trip Advisor) as number 86 among 893 attractions in Utah. The seventeen mile loop is unpaved, narrow, and a bit steep in places, but passible by passenger car.

We also visited Goosenecks State Park. Dave wandered out to a point but the first step on the makeshift trail seemed a bit high to me, so I stayed on the rim. This formation is referred to as an "incised meander," and was formed as a result of geological uplift. I couldn't do it justice given my vantage point and camera equipment, so I borrowed a couple of images off the web.

Barbara has a soft spot for her pets and recently indulged a whim by purchasing a massive bone for the dog.

He wasn't quite sure what it was, but figured it out quick enough. To this point he has only been able to break the joint apart and remove the connective tissue.

I have been a bit disappointed by the response to my request that you establish inheritance claim to some of the junk in my possession. I complained to Ameilia about that and she responded by e-mailing me a dozen or so requests--some even for other people. I don't think making claims for other people is a good idea and so I am going to disallow it (Does AJ, who doesn't know what a logarithm is, really want my collection of slide rules?).

Perhaps it was a bad idea and I should abandon this preplanning idea entirely. I could just let you guys deal with distribution of our junk when circumstances mandate that you do so. After all, that is my family tradition as far back as I can remember...
