It seems to me that time flies wether I am having fun or not, and it is again time to indulge in the electronic equivalent of putting pen to paper.

For some time now, my employer (Sun Life Family Health Centers) has been verbalizing their intention of transitioning to a system of electronic medical records. Since the multi-billion dollar stimulus package recently passed by our Federal Government contains funds for that express purpose, perhaps that verbalization will come to fruition. At that time, indexes like these will truly become as archaic as they now appear. I checked, and my name is in there from the time I worked at Magma Copper (in 1983).

I spent some time helping Braxton and Sabrina with their edifice, and brought with me tools I thought might be of use. When I arrived in Eagar, Wyatt accused me of using my car like a truck. I told him not to talk so loudly, as my Geo might hear him... And who knows what might happed if the little car learned it wasn't really a truck.

I had planned to spend three days helping build, but a failure to communicate resulted in me working only part of one day (10 am to 5 pm). That was enough to make this old man tired, but we did get a little bit accomplished, and when I left, the rafters were up. I haven't been back, but the last I heard, the roof decking was in place, and part of the outer layer of sheet metal was on. That is old news, and I suspect much more progress has been made.

It was fun seeing Cub again. She seemed a little stressed by all the coming and going, and I would have liked to have spent more time with her.

Brie is still cute, and happy as a baby.

As I was leaaving Ameilia was getting her children ready to participate in the local parade commemorating Independence Day. They were dressed up as Abraham Lincoln, Uncle Sam...

and the Statue of Liberty. I would have never gone though such a hassle for such a short parade,

but they enjoyed it and maybe that is the reason why God gave children mothers...

The following week, Barbara and I attended a CCW (carry concealed weapon) class taught in Springerville. The instructor had been with Pima County Sheriff's Department, where the taught firearms and SWAT. He had retired and now worked for Fish and Game, and was, in fact, one of 5 Commissioners with that agency. He was well qualified, and seemed compedent, even if we did move both the class and the firearm qualifying locations.

Ameilia shot very well. Can you see the ten holes in her target? The range was only 5 yards, and 10 yards, but her grouping was still impressive.

Barbara drew on her military training, and also did well. We now have to get ourselves fingerprinted by a law enforcement agency (and since Pinal County Sheriff's refuses, we plan to visit the Mammoth Police Department), then submit all the paperwork (plus some more money) and we should have our CCW permits.

The first half of the class covered the law, and was quite good. The second half delved into the philosophy of carrying a concealed weapon, and I found that I am not quite enough of a redneck to buy into everything he espoused. Over all, it was fun. I don't plan to carry a weapon very often, but at least I will be able to lay my firearm in the back seat of my car and cover it with a target without having to worry about being legal...
