Alan and Barbara 8-19-19

This is Serra Renee Hatch, born 20 June 2019. We visited her in the hospital.

It took me a couple of weeks to bump on the fact that Serra was a derivation of her mothers' name (Terra). I most be getting slow in my old age.

Today (August 17, 2019) is Barbaras' 60^th birthday. We celebrated...

AJ and Nathen visited, and while my attention was diverted they hijacked the old (1961) Jeep that has been squatting in my back yard for the last 32 years.

I'm afraid that restoration efforts on this bucket of bolts might quickly turn into a bottomless money pit. The vehicle is old enough that its electrical components are 6 volt (instead of the 12 volt system that has become standard on cars today). That means that the head lights, tail lights, position lights, dash lights, turn signals, starter, voltage regulator, coil, ~~alternator~~ generator (too old to have an alternator), heater motor, and perhaps the speedometer will need an upgrade. It used to be fun to take on a challenge like that. In its' day that jeep was fun vehicle to drive, was great off road, and I enjoyed it immensely. But at this point, I'm happy to let someone else have all the fun of dealing with restoration problems.

The tires on the jeep were all flat to the point of threatening to come off the rim and with the holes, uneven ground, and upward slope, the winch on the car hauler had some difficulty moving the jeep, but eventually they got it loaded.

Nathen also decided to take his motor that has been inhabiting my shed for the last fifteen years...

...and various others took other treasures (acetylene torches, dressers, etc). If I would have more time, they would have undoubtedly taken more stuff.

I attended the blessing of Serra (4 August 2019).

There were quite a number of people in attendance. I pawned my camera off on someone (I can't remember who [Ameilia maybe?]) and what follows are images she captured of some of the participants (thank you Ameilia [or whoever...])
