Chiricahua Mountians - Old Boy Scout Camp Victoria
 **NOTICE THE LOCATION CHANGE**


Elevation is 8,300 feet above sea level.  This place gets lots of rain.  Hopefully we may be spared a bit of it.

Official name of the place is Barfoot Springs.

It is located in the Chiricahua Mountians southeast of Wilcox, AZ
From Wilcox, head south on highway 186 toward the Chiricahua National Monument.  This road will take you next to Dos Cabezas.
From highway 186 turn east on highway 181 toward the mountain (east) and the monument.  This is a paved road.
As you approach the mountian, the road tees with a stop sign.  Left (north) will take you into the monument - this is not the correct way.

Head right (south) toward Pinery Canyon.  This is also forest service road 42.
Forest service Road 42 has a few forks (all well marked).  Stay on 42, cross the stream and head to the top. 

There are two narrow bridges that you will cross.  This is a dirt road that is narrow, but well maintained.
Once you reach Onion Saddle, forest service road 42 will continue down the mountian to Portal, AZ. 

Turn onto forest service road 42D (right turn)
Forest service road 42D will fork and left goes to Rustler Park, Right goes to Barfoot Spring.  Take a right and head to Barfoot spring.

This is where we will camp.

This is the old Boy Scout Camp Victoria.

The reason the camp was closed was due to the abundance of bears in the camp.

Please plan accordingly.  Bears should be expected to be present.  Food will need to be taken care of at night.

Bathrooms are available at Rustler Park ~2 mile drive from the camp.
