The Gatlin Family traveled to California for Thanksgiving this year. Leaving late and arriving early. Terrible timing with two little ones. Just as Mommy and Daddy are ready for a nap babies are ready to play. |
Daniel was more than ready to entertain us with his sumo style wrestling with Daddy. It was so amusing he was provoked 3 or 4 times a day! | Kaleb was not a fan of Aunt Becky's hard wood, tile, and textured walls, but he had a good time in spite of them. |
Daniel enjoyed his Thanksgiving dinner and tasted everything | Joey and Becky went all out for Thanksgiving. There was so much food, I'm sure we could have stayed for two weeks and never have the slightest feeling of hunger. |
The wish bone was a bit tricky.... | After several attempts it was decided that there is little hope of snapping a wet chicken bone, and left it to dry. |
Seeing as we forgot Kaleb's boosterseat, he celebrated his first Thanksgiving dinner on the floor. (He is a stuffing and green bean casserole fan.) | Apparently bath time is much more fun with Aunt Becky! |
Uncle Joey was ambushed while working in his office and let the kids play with his keyboard. Jon and I tried to warn him that the children have the mysterious power of pushing all the wrong buttons at the same time. Kaleb gave him a lesson, but he just thought it was funny. | Daniel was thrilled with the presence of a dog that would tolerate his leading and commanding. He loved Sonora's dog door and pushed Sonora through it as often as possible. Even sweet Kaleb chased the dog for a look at her very interesting long tail. Sonora was so good and tolerant of the toddler inflicted abuse. |
We left earlier then we usually do from Andrea's house in an attempt to get Jon home before he would need a nap. This gave us the opportunity to stop at the rest area and let the kids run around and play. | Daniel always has more fun in places where I think fun is scarce. He went for a jog with two women who were stretching their legs, found three small dogs to pet and cuddle, and also used the picnic tables as jungle gyms. |
Getting back in the car was difficult with the rest stop being so much fun, but after a small protest, we got Dan man back into his seat for the next leg of the trip. | Kaleb was much easier to wrangle back into the car. Of course no trip of ours would be complete without some one peeing all over themselves and the seat. Kaleb was this years winner! (Apparently his diaper was not fastened properly and he peed freely all over himself and the seat.) |
This drive was much easier on Jon. I did force him to wear his glasses. He insisted the difference was so slight it was insignificant! I may have believed him, if he hadn't asked me to read him a large lighted temporary road sign. Besides, I think he looks good in glasses! | I know this picture is blurry, but this is an AAFES truck. AAFES is the store on military posts and bases. I told Jon the military was keeping tabs on him. |
Not 5 minutes later we passed this stryker on its way to Jon's brigade at Fort Lewis. We had a good laugh. Unfortunately, the camera was lost in the car while we visited Andrea's. Jon and Aaron spent a lot of time playing video games and had a great time. The boys had a great time dumping out their toys and getting into the babies once well organized room and throwing everything from toys to formula onto the floor. One toy that Daniel found was a toy vacuum ( I can only assume belongs to Emily) and I was so happy to see him over come his fear while his Father vacuumed by the sheer desire to imitate him. That is a toy we will need to buy for home. Kaleb was fascinated by baby Athen, however was not gentle enough to spend a great deal of time with him. Daniel was indifferent to the little person. Jon and I had a great deal of fun holding such a quiet and small baby. Aaron asked if we missed it and we very quickly responded NO!! We love babies, but we are really enjoying sleep! From what we have heard this is a baby with a sweet temperament and laser guided pee-pee. Both, Aaron and Andrea, are obviously deeply in love with their newest addition. The trip was a great success. |

Being home is so nice. The boys are much more accustom to these conditions. I would love to have the California weather, but I will survive the wet and chill.
All our love |
