Dear Friends and Family,

As it has been awhile, so I will be mostly recapping the events from the past two months. The first 8 photos are ones that Lauren took. She loves be the photographer.

This as been a really busy summer! I came home from AZ to find that our freezer stopped working due to some super helper turning the temp. down. You may be wondering how it is possible for this to happen. Well the person that created this particular freezer thought that a knob with lights should be put on the front of the freezer inviting little ones to play with them.

I cleaned out the freezer, it should be noted that it was full of half of a cow and 25 lbs of chicken, but I did not realize that if you turn a freezer on it side it will ruin it. I will have to chalk that one up to lesson learned.

Next we lost all four chickens to the neighbors dogs. I should also be said that we did not find chicken number 4's body but as it has been two months I am sure she did not make it.

While I was in AZ Zeke ran into a curb to avoid an accident and after fixing the tie rod and rotating the tires we found that it was the bearing that had gone bad.

We had a particular hot summer during which our A/C went out. After having it looked at and almost $300.00 worth of Anti-freeze put into it we found there were many leaks in the compressor and it would need to be replaced. The compressor is attached to the furnace so we would have to replace both or try to find one that attaches to furnace, or get one and make new connections.

We opted to wait until next year after we have saved enough money to purchase it. Again it should be noted it was over 100 degrees for 5 weeks straight, however we did buy A/C window units for the bedrooms.

So I started this letter almost a month and a half ago... as my life is apparently too busy to even find time to sit and recap what happened over the summer. As such I will try to talk about current things and assume that most of the important things were already added to letter, were conveyed to you via phone or the rumor mill.

Some of the ladies from church and I put together a preschool group consisting of 6 kids: one 4 year old, one 2 year old, and four 3 year old. So far we have done 15 weeks and due to illness or emergency I have not attended to help or teach 3 of those weeks... not exactly as I imagined it when we started. However I can see the difference in Lauren so it working out. Even Carson will sit and try to participate.

Since starting preschool it is becoming more pronounced that children can fall asleep any time anywhere they deem it appropriate. That said it should also be stated that they are stinking cute when they do.

In other news we also put Lauren in a dance class and at first I thought it was the best thing ever. Than we went though a phase where she asked to go to class all week but when it came time to dance she would change her tune and ask to go home. Yep, to those wondering if that was frustrating it was in fact just that!

Now we are where Lauren likes to go and does dance, she just dances to her own tune and usually it is nothing like what the teacher or other children are doing. She has fun and isn't that what it is really all about?

So back to some older new, I know I said I wouldn't however I could not post the following pictures and not tell you the story behind them. So we had a storm and it was nothing to talk about until we went out side to find out tree had been up rooted and luckly it did not fall on the house.

That is not that much, until you see this there was a spindly peach tree about 18 ft from the up rooted tree that didn't even loose leaves? WEIRD?! We were very blessed with trees falling and nothing has happened to the house since we moved it.

Shortly after tree story we went to an air show and the entire time Carson was so excited about the planes. He would breathe rapidly and yell "Plane, Plane!!!" It was really darling, wonder where he got his love and planes from?

At the air show was Roy Williams "old house." They has small horses, goats, and donkeys for the kids to pet it was fun.

We have had 4 earth quakes here recently in Oklahoma while they were only 30 minutes south of us I have slept through all but one and while I was awake I did not actually feel said quake just heard the cup boards rattling. So this year Oklahoma has had a blizzard that dropped 36 inches of snow with in a couple of days, drought that forces boil bans due to no drinking water, floods, wild fires (nothing compared to Eagar), tornados that destroyed most of a city, and now earth quakes... not so sure it is safe here?

One of our chickens either got her toe smashed in her coop door or caught it on something either way she hurt it bad enough that we are fairly sure it is going to fall off due to no blood circulation. This in it self is a dis-hearting thing, but for me it feels like I'm a poor chicken farmer. She is getting around fine and other than limping does not seem worse for wear but I still feel bad.

We also had a possum in our yard about three weeks ago. After doing some research found that they eat chickens so we made sure the take extra care in securing their pen and had no issues. Until two nights ago, I had been helping a friend sew and did not remember to shut their coop up, the possum got in and tried to eat our chickens. Well all he got was some tail feathers and a hole in the head. So now we have a gimpy chicken and one with no tail feathers... half of my flock has been injured on my watch. What does that say about me?

So I had 13 tomato plants this year and the next photo sums up our crop.
Until next time,

Zeke, Mylinda, Lauren, Carson Ellis
