Happy Holidays!
It has been a busy one, even though we stayed home. I know for some reason I thought it would be slow and maybe even a little boring. Just before Christmas we celebrated Carson's 2nd birthday. The day started off rough for Carson as shown this photo: First, he didn't want to take off his dirty crocodile shirt, Second, he didn't want to take photos, and 3rd, he didn't want to open anything.

However, after I made the cake and started to frost it, his attitude changed, and for the rest of the day was really great! He is so fun and as he speaks, sometimes with more dictation than I do. For the most part it's easy to communicate with him. He LOVES trains, planes and automobiles. So, his birthday cake was a train.

He is always on the move, but not quite as much as Landen I would guess, although they do have similar qualities. Carson has some playtools. (Nathen you might want to invest in some OR, dig out the boy's old ones?) He likes to take his pliers and pinch parts of his face. For the most part it's very funny however, the other day he got ahold of his Dad's pliers and found out that when pinching his ear, the effect was very different. He even managed to break open his skin doing it. Poor little guy. He was so shocked that it hurt so much. He just sat there staring at the pliers in awe, that they did this to him.

Carson did need help blowing out his candles, but I was more than willing to help.

Carson's favorite toy was this helicopter and if you call it an airplane he will correct you. My good friend (the one we had over for Thanksgiving dinner) gave it to him and I sometimes wonder who knows the child better...

Lauren had a dance recital. The dress rehearsal which the parents and grandparents could attend, due to lack of space at actual recital was really cute. The photo does not do it justice at all! Lauren got up there and kept tapping her right foot for almost the entire dance but she was so cute. The actual day of the recital Lauren refused to dance and it was more than a battle just to get her to stand with the other kids. She at least did the rehearsal and it was really neat to watch her perform. She is so fun and cheerful. Always doing things to make other people laugh.

Lauren was trying her photography skills with Carson and this is how it played out. Lauren "k, Carson open your eyes and say, "Cheese Please."

Lauren "Carson open you eyes please."

I was babysitting and Lauren's friend Libby and asked me to make her PJ's. I did, then had to make everyone matching ones. While I was sewing these 5 pair of pants, Libby come over and asks me "Balinda, why are you so slow?" I responded "Isn't your grandma's slow when she sews?" Libby "Yeah, but not as slow as you are!" Love kids and their perceptions.

Libby's little brother Deric hangs out with us too much. When he falls he will run to me over his mom. So while I was holding him one day Libby asks me "Balinda, why does Deric like you?" I said "Why do you think he likes me?" Libby's response "I don't have any idea why."

So between Carson's birthday and Christmas we went and visited Zeke's mom and step-dad. They were nice enough to give the kids recorders in their stockings. I think Jodi might have started to question his purchase after taking both kids and their recorders on a tractor ride with an enclosed cabin.

It was fun to go and see them. The weather was really nice and we were even able to go out side and play.

Mia the super sewer was nice enough to make my kiddos matching outfits for Christmas. I hope she draws our name every year! They are so much fun to watch play together and how their little minds work. I have started a "using you words" thing at my house. I feel like I say it all the time. When something goes wrong the first reaction is to throw a fit, so I always say use your words. So the other day Carson is screaming because Lauren took something away and I said use your words. Carson stops mid scream and asks Lauren very nicely for his toy. I had to laugh at the change of direction mid scream like it was nothing. They are funny little things.

Love ya,
Zeke, Mylinda, Lauren, and Carson Ellis
