Dear Friends' and Family,
Life in Tulsa is busy but we are plugging along. Some of you readers might have thought that perhaps the Ellis family fell off the grid so to speak. This is not that case we have just allowed life to take up more than it's fair share of our days and thus have not sat down to convey the happenings here.

We really like going to the aquarium and especially since it is climate controlled.

Next I have been busy sewing and here are some of the projects that I have completed. Fist I made a bed set for a lady who works with a lady that I used to work with several years ago. I like how it turned out.

Then I was helping out with a bridal shower so I made all the host and bride-to-be aprons.

Next I did a hodge-podge shopping cart cover. I really did not want to give this to the lady I made it for as I liked it so much! It just screamed my name and the colors just make me smile. I did however give it to her and she also fell in love with it! Mia does it not say Mylinda all over it?

I tried my hand at making a shawl for Lauren to wear to church, she was not as impressed as I was when we finished. I guess you can not satisfy everyone.

Carson however thought it was the greatest thing ever and was more than happy to wear it and get his photo taken.

So now for some stories, we had four chickens and they were laying really well for it being winter that is until we had our roof redone. The morning they were to start five cars pulled up to the front of my house and 7 or so guys got out and just stared at the house. One guy came up and rang the door bell when I answered he asked "you need a new roof?" I replied "yes." He said "okay." As he was walking away I asked if I needed to do anything and he said "yaw, yaw it's ok." Being some what confused by his response I again asked "Do I need to move my car? Or do anything??" He responded "yaw yaw it's okay." So he did not speak English... that was okay.

A Little later I was in the kitchen making cookies when I heard that chickens squawking. I ran out back and around that side of the hours to the front yard. I found that the neighbors dogs had yellow in his mouth. Red was standing inside the fence squawking as if to say don't leave the fence bad things happen. (if you recall red is the one missing the toe.) Black it trying to get back inside the fence and blue is no where to be seen.

I yelled at the dog who dropped yellow. Yellow then ran up on the porch and crouched in front of the door. I went picked her up and she laied her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. I put yellow and black in the fence and closed the gate and went to find blue. I never found her body just a pile of feathers. As you might have guessed I was not to happy when I called the roofing company to informs them that there workers left the gate open and let out my chickens!

The lady on the phone asked me if they were chickens that lay eggs? I told her that they were and I would like the company to pay for her. I am sure that is probable one of the weirdest phone calls she has ever gotten.

Lauren is a good big sister but some times I think she forgets that Carson is a boy. She was painting her nails and when Carson woke from his nap she thought she should paint his too. Carson could not have been happier. But if you look closely you can see the polish all over his cloths, and yes it was all over the table and floor too.

Last fall I found some goggles on clearance so I bought them for the kids and once again Carson was too cute to pass up taking a photo of him.

A little slow on the timing but this was Lauren's hair for Valentine day. She has such cute hair when she will hold still long enough for it to be put up.

I saved this story for the end of the letter. So Lauren had to go to the dentist to have a tooth filled. While there she was given a mandibular block. Meaning that the lower left part of her face was numb, as we get into the car I go over again how important it is that she not scratch her face or play with it as she can not feel it until it wakes up. She says "OK mom." However when we arrive home her lip and most of the inside of her cheek looks like ground up hamburger! Poor thing, she did really well and didn't complain too much that her lip hurt. But it looked awful!

Lastly Lauren just turned 4 and she wanted a rainbow piñata. So after much discussion we settled on a cupcake theme. I went to work making it. I took an exercise ball and wrapped it in Saran wrap. Then made a mixture of 2 parts flour and 1 part water used that to soak strips of junk mail and layered them letting it dry in between layers. I also left an opening in the bottom big enough to work out ball.

After it had dried I layered crate paper over the top of that. Then added green and pink dots with an acordan style poster board for the bottom of the cupcake.

If I had it to do over the only thing I would have done differently is that last layer of paper I would have used white so the design would not be visible thru the crate paper.

Lauren's birthday fell on a day that I was teaching preschool. So we had cupcakes for the snack and she was able to play and have a party with out too much extra for me to do.

However I don't think she was as impressed about waiting for everyone to sing to her as we were.

I might have put too many layers on the cupcake as well, everyone had 3 tries at hitting it and in the end they were only able to make a small hole on the side. In the end that adults tore it open for the goodies to fall out. Everyone will enjoy what I put inside. First I wanted to make sure that everyone got the same amount of goodies so I put them all in bags with the kids names on it. In their goodie bag was that following: toothbrush, toothpaste, egg filled with M&M's, egg filled with play dough make with Kool-Aid, necklaces, rings, home aid slime, and a granola cluster thing I made. You might laugh but do you know how many kids made sure they left with their toothbrushes? Not one kid asked me if I found their candy, but three asked if I found their toothbrush... just saying!

I made a small rainbow cake for Lauren she really liked it. She was even sad to eat it. Hope this finds you all doing well,

Love ya,
Zeke, Mylinda, Lauren, and Carson Ellis
