Hello everyone!
We have had a busy week. Working with the Young Women is almost like having one it feels like. I seem to be always going. There was a dance last weekend and I was one of the adults there to keep the teens under control. I was amazed at how few danced. Everyone seemed to just attend to stand around and yell conversation over the music. Not my idea of fun but there you are.
So back to my busy week. Oh well. In other news I was in an accident on Thursday. I was at the post office buying stamps to send A.J. a letter and I backed up out of my parking space. I was about to pull forward when this teeny bopper started to walk in front of me so I stopped not wanting to run her over. Then I heard the sound on metal hitting. I didn't have to look to know I was being hit. The truck rocked back and forth only confirming my thoughts.
I turn ever so slowly to see a little red car smashed up into the back passenger side of my every faithful Toy. Not wanting to get out of the truck buy knowing that I must I sucked in a deep breath of air and out I stepped.
A lady passing said STUPID under her breath. I turned, not sure who she was talking to. She was very up set that someone would run into the back of me while I was stopped. She proceeded to inform me that the person that hit me must not have been paying attention and that drivers these days do that and how stupid and unfair it is. I thank her for her concern and continue the long walk to the other side of the truck to find out the damage done.
What's racing through my mind you may wonder how much this is going to cost, we just fixed the engine in the truck and now this. My trucks blue book value is probably about 500 dollars or so. If the damage is too extensive there will be no use in fixing it the truck isn't worth the cost to repair. No I think this isn't happening.
I come closer to the tailgate and the lady who has backed into me is out of her car telling me that everything is fine I don't need to call the cops and she is going to leave. In actually what she said is "its okay, no cops, no worry." Yep she is Mexican and I would venture to say that she no speak-a-da-english very well. So I say let me look.
I slowly sweep my view from the lady to the back of her car the tail light is busted out the pieces laying all over on the ground, the trunk will not close, the bumper which was made of fiber glass hangs down on one side. I look to her friend whose face reads "please don't call the cops we are illegal's" then to the van that was parked in between my truck and the ladies car. Then to my truck first at the tire. Everything looks ok with the tire no damage then I go up to the fender, no nothing there.
My heart starts to race could it be that my truck will be ok. My baby that has been in two other accidents since I bought her. My eyes scan the back end of the side panel it looks alright the rust marks from a accident long ago are there and what paint hadn't rusted off is still there. Then I move to the tail gate, no paint missing not extra dings that weren't there before. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness is little truck victorious again. Then I move my vision to the bumper (which is two steel rods on top of each other with plastic stoppers at each end) first to the top stopper some of the edges are missing but the stopper is intact. Down to the second stopper and it's in the same condition. I think OH I missed the tail light that is where the damage is. Do my eyes lie to me, no there is no damage to the taillight. I am in disbelief this cannot be. My Lil' truck has won she has come out of yet another careless persons attack.
I scan the scene to make sure my eyes didn't lie. NO there is NO damage to my truck. I turn and look at the lady tell its ok. Skip back to the front of my truck and pull open the door. A song is bursting from my throat, how I can be so lucky. In an opera voice I sing Hallo lulla. Start the engine and drive back to work. Ha Ha Ha good story huh?
Zeke and I took the Motorcycle out last weekend and road to Silone falls state park. It was a good ride and we had a good time. I couldn't believe all the girls hiking around the park with sandals on. Oh well.
Zeke is doing well in school and has about six more months until he will be done with the aviation part and then moves to the general ed. to get his degree. I'm very proud of him. I'm still in school and glad that this is spring break week. This semester ends the beginning of May. I got my notice in the mail that I am now X-ray certified, and then I had to send off to the State for my license. In June I'm hoping to take a Cornal polishing course. Not to bad.
Hope you all have a great week.
Love Zeke and Mylinda Ellis
