On Saturday this week (yesterday) we decided to head over to the Pima air and space muesem in Tucson. It has been many, many years since my last visit and most of our kids haven't been so this was as good as a time as any to head over and expose some of the kids to the history that place contains. Here is Sara next to the nose section of an A-10. They also had a static A-10 on display as well, but Sara couldn't reach as high on that plane. |

Above is us next to a B-24. There was a lot of WWII planes on display and most of them have been restored and are kept inside out of the elements. This was an excellent example of some preserved history. Next to that is the Super Guppy. I would have loved to see some of these planse fly again. Landen is stanting next to an example of some nose art on another WWII plane. From what we read, the army was against Nose Art, but due the more soldiers being removed from duty due to nervous breakdowns rather than injuries, the Army relaxed the restrictions and allowed the soldiers to express themselves on their planes. |

There were a few jeeps lie this one located around the WWII displays, all were older than the CJ-5, they looked like CJ-2As. If you look closely you can see that they are sitting on jack stands to keep the tires from appearing flat. Almost all of the aircraft were on jack stands as well for the same reason, some were elevated to all you to easily walk under and around them. Kyle was taken with the P-51 Mustang.

Abaove is Terra standing next to a rescue boat. This boat was fitted on the bottom of either a B-24, B-25, or B-29. It was flown to the ocean crash site of people needing help and dropped from the plane. This was the people drowning could stay afloat. I am not sure if it was every deployed or how successful it was. Next to that is the P-36. Not many were made, and if you look closely you can seek Rachel, Kyle & Landen in the center fo the photo. This plane has 10 engines. 6-propellers (pushers) and 4 jet engines at the end of the wings. To the right is a B-25. This were used the plans used in Dewy's Raiders. |

Above is an older sea plane, and a B-17G. To the right is another shot of the B-25. Massive planes. By looking at the different models you can really see the advancement of the technolgy that was being developed. |

Here is Terra next to the SR-71 Black Bird. To the right is all of above teh B-17G. From reading the sign, one of the advancements between the B-17F and the B-17G was the added plexy-glass on the side gunners station. This way the -40F ambient temperatures wouldn't be blown in the fuseloge as fast while they were aloft. To the right is Landen and Kyle next to the B-24. |

Landen was taken with the F-16. He was amazed how small the planes were compared to the rest of them. This one was from the Arizona National Gaurd (retired). To the right is a bicycle and barracks next to the B-17G. Sara didn't care much about the aircraft, but did enjoy running around and climbing in every plane she was allowed to.
