This letter is late, but tells the tale of the annual Labor Day
campout. For 2015 we ended up going to just southeast of Luna
Lake, AZ. It was just inside of AZ border. After driving up
to Eager via New Mexico, and camping many times in Arizona, I am left
wondering why we haven't tired to venture out of the state and try a
New Mexico campout. It would be almost as far but would be in
some country that none of us have tried before. |
This
campout was well attended. We went, Sabrina & Braxton, Mia
& Wyatt, Aj & Brittany, Dad (Barbara was sick), Dave Elliott,
Mark & Susan, Laura & Fred, Jared & Katie - and Karren
& Jim all managed to show up. Mike & Marge even showed up
for a little while. The weather was mild and light rain on and
off a few of the days. We have camped in this exact spot at least
once before. Throughout the entire weekend, there was only one
car that ventured through the camp. That is just the way I like
it. Actually there was one other car to many for my preferences,
but all in all it wasn't too bad. This time around, we didn't take the Bronco. We had planned to, but I kept removing the enigine so that it was not functional. I plan to write a letter about the bronco repairs, but they need to be finished prior to me embarking on that letter, and the engine is out again.... So AJ, pulled up our little 5 x 10 trailer with his truck and we drove up the van. With the location of the campsite, he needed to pass right next to our home anyway. Next year he may not live in Tucson, so unless we camp in the Chiricahua Mountians in Cochise County, we will need to rectify this problem by next year. Truth be told, if I can't manage to fix it within the next year, I probably wont own it any more. Terra will give it to the next person who passes the house and is willing to tow it away. This year, Sabrina & Braxton brought up a game played with a PVC errected ladder and you took a pair of tennis balls connected by a string and tried to make them stay on the ladder by tossing them. It was a fun game to play, and I don't remember who was the best at it. Margie brought out a blow gun that the little ones were fascinated with. Terra and I brought out some PVC pipe and marshmellows to use as blow gun material, and these were almost as fun as the real blow guns. At least with these you could shoot each other. |
The kids really enjoy making forts. This camping spot is probably the
best location for the fort building. Both Ethen & Wyatt, and Abbye
& Kyle made different forts. They played and played in them. They
would like to visit next year (as we pass by) and see if the forts are
still standing. It was nice to see everyone again. |
