Labor day campout this year was held in Flagstaff, AZ. It was near the lava tubes on the east side of town. Sabrina & Braxton didn't come camping this year, but did come out for a day visit. Mylinda & Zeke also didn't attend nor did they come our for a day visit either. They were sailing in the Pacific. Karren also didn't join the festivities nor did Jim & Jessica. Everyone else was present and accounted for - with the exception of Kylie Ramsay. She was cheering for a football game.

Aj bought a smoker this year and brought it out camping. It is propane fired and he also had a wireless meat thermometer. We tried smoking a briscket. It ended up working, but I didn't think it tasted as good as it should have. Wyatt really liked it, and I think AJ did as well. I like trying new things and venturing out, but when the end results don't turn out as I expect - I default back to the items that I know.

The weather was really nice this time around. Even though the this year was very rainy (starting in min-June), the rain held off for the campout. We recieved some sprinkles one afternoon, but that was it. It was probably a good thing too, because Sabrina & Braxton didn't bring their cannopy and Terra and I went out and aquired one for the trip. It worked, but was not as good of a design as theirs is.

Mike & Margie came out for a day visit. I think it was Saturday when they came over. It was good to see them. I don't see them very often, and so I enjoy it when I get to.

Both AJ and I bought our large stoves and they both worked well. Sometimes equipment performs poorly, but not this time. We never made the traditional cheesecake that AJ was prepared to make though.

Since we were camping in close proximity to the Lava tubes, we had to make the trek to visit them. To do this, AJ left his flat bed trailer hooked up to his vehicle and we piled in both the car and the trailer and headed over for the adventure.
Serra did great on the way in, and finally wanted to be held near the end. I held her and we stopped to rest. She fell asleep and was carried out by Terra and I taking turns.

Once we exited the tubes, she woke back up and was active once again.

I asked Rachel about this photo, and was told that while in the Lava River Cave, she broke a component on her braces. She had been fiddeling with it on the trip out and once she was in the trailer she kept playing with it trying to make it more comfortable (probably by removing the broken piece).

Fred, Mia, Wyatt & Dad all decided not to venture through the caves. The rest of us went and explored. It took about 2.5 hours to make the trip.
