Serra'a 5th Birthday
Serra turned 5 in June this year. Her birthday was just after Aj & Brittney moved to Benson. We had a birthday party for Serra and Hudson, Maverick & Alan joined us for the festivities. Serra wanted to have waffles for breakfast for her birthday, and so we did.
Later that day, we went to Skate Country. Symantha joined us as well as Ethen and AJ & Brittney.
Skating is fun, but it takes about an hour to figure out how to do it again. By the time you figure out how to sakte, you are done skating for the day (and you have a bruised elbow & ego). If you were to do this frequently, it would be a great exercize, but also you would be very competent at it.
Oddly enough, everyone enjoyed it with a few exceptions. Symantha wouldn't try it. She didn't want to have wheels on her shoes, and Serra didn't like it either. She had a difficult time figuring out how to skate. She kept falling and didn't want to try. Terra worked with her until she finally got it, but that wasn't until we were about to leave.
Just about everyone ended up falling a time or two. Getting your balance just right is tricky.
Rachel kept not wanting to skate - she is starting the phase of "I'm too cool for that activity". I kept sitting by her at the tables until she would get tired of me sitting so close to her and she would go out for another round.
Today, Serra didn't want to eat her dinner. We had tostadas with home made beans mixed with smoked pulled pork. She didn't like the meat in the beans and wouldn't eat it. We told her that if she didn't eat it she had to feed it to the chickens. It was already dark, and she didn't like that either. Further we explained that she would not be able to have any dessert if she didn't eat diner. She explained that she was cold and didn't want any ice cream.
When the time for ice cream came around, Serra was very distraught that she couldn't have any. She asked us if she could have an ice cream sandwich beacuse they didn't have any ice cream in them instead of having a bowl of ice cream. We have lots of frozen sweets at the moment due to Janelle's tonsil extraction last week.
It was really nice having all of the family there to celebrate Serra's birthday.
KD Hunt made this cake for Serra. We ate it at Laura's house. I was thoroughly impressed at the level of detail that she put into this. I think there was a barbie doll in the middle of the cake, but the dress was the edible part. Serra loved it.
