A few weeks ago, there was a 1920's who-dunnit dinner hosted by the Benson Food bank. I thought this would be fun and asked Terra if she wanted to go - she did. So I invited AJ and Brittney and they seemed excited about it, and I also asked Mylinda & Zeke. When the event came, Mylinda and Zeke couldn't make it, so we ended up aksing Deryk Kelly and his wife if they wanted to go with us. They now live here near us. We dressed the part and headed out. I admit I was looking forward to it. Once there, the dinner was not great, and the event was some traveling performers that like to involve the audiance intier theatricts. I should have foreseen this. I ended up being chosen for some minor parts in the performance, and quickly soured to my liking for this type of entertainment. I suspect it will be a while before I try it (or get conned into doing it) again.

Later the Mesa, AZ temple was having an open house and so we invited Karren to go with us and drove up to Phoenix, went through it, and then drove back home. I don't know if my memory has faded since I spent some time in this building, or if the new decorator had chosen color schemes that I didn't like, but I didn't care for the interior at all. All of the oldness was maintained by choosing colors that were ugly yellows and greens. It was like it was transported from the 1970s utnil now. I was dissapointed with how ugly they made the interior.

A few weeks later, Karren came out for a birthday dinner. We threw her a little party and had chochlate rigamortis cheese cake with double dutch chocolate ice cream to go with it. We did the dinner after church on a Sunday. You can also see some vanilla ice cream for those that don't care for the death by chololate route. Karren had a good time. We played Password and worked on some puzzles. We need to have Karren out more often.

For Thanksgiving this year, we all went to Picacho Peak. Dad was there along with us, Mylinda & Zeke, Mia & Wyatt, AJ & Brittney, Mike & Margie, Karren, Laura & Fred & KD & Jared. When we left the house it was raining, but when we arrived the temperature was in the lower 70s and there was a light breeze. The weather was perfect. Sabrina & Braxton along with Symantha decided they had better things to do than to drive and eat with us. There was no hiking this time around. Terra's dad was in the hospital in Phoenix due to a fall after a knee replacement and broke his femer. Terra ended up leaving with Mike & Margie and went to the hospital in Phoenix. I went up to Phoenix a day or two later to retrieve her.

This year was Kyle's turn to pick out a Christmas tree. Here is the one he selected. It didn't look like much, but once it was home it ended up opening up rather nicely and was quite full. Probably one of the best ones we have had in a long time.

There was a ward Christmas party and we attended. I was asked to cook bacon for the event (they were eating breakfast for dinner) and afterward the kids got to sit on Santa's lap. Landen was happy to do it, as was Janelle, but Serra didn't want any part of it.

Here is Janelle's turn. She really enjoyed talking to Santa and was incredibly impressed that Santa even knew her name.

This last weekend I got a wild hair and decided to remove the gravel in the front yard between the garage and the front door. For whatever reason, I cannot maintain gravel to look nice. This had turned into a massive weed garden and Kyle and I dug out the gravel and placed it around the cement driveway. This is the seocnd or third time we have dug out gravel and placed it around the driveway. I don't know where it keeps going, perhaps it just gets burried deeper and deeper in the ground. Anyway, after digging out the gravel, Landen, Kyle. Janelle pulled out the pavers from under the wooden structure in the back yard and washed them off. Once clean they brought them around to me and I placed them. I am hopefull that they won't grow weeds as easily as the gravel did. I like low maintenance things and I am hopeful that the pavers will be low maintenance. It has been a while since I have laid pavers and I did it wrong. I started from the house and worked my way toward the sidewalk. I should have started at the sidewalk and work my way toward the garage that way the small line of sand would be by the house and not where it is easily seen. Oh well, mayby next time.

Rachel has been blessed by the powers that be and recieved a new cat. For some reason a random cat adopted our house and started living near us. Rachel would feed it and it would sleep on the front porch. Terra has consented to having a second cat and she took it to get its shots and now we have two felines in our house. I don't know how long this will last, but Rachel is incredibly excited about it.

This year we had Landen and Janelle put on the Christmas tree lights. They really enjoyed it, and so did the cats. Serra kept taking strands of random lights and plugging them in. It took us a few days, perhaps a week to get the tree decorated after erection. I don't know why, but life has gotten busy. It is hard to find much time to do much of anything.
