Serra's 3rd Birthday came and went. I was there and don't remember what type of cake this was. It has unicorns and rainbows on it, but I don't remember what was inside of it. Nevertheless she enjoyed it.

Mylinda invited Terra & with our three oldest kids to go to Phoenix and do baptisms at all three Phoenix area temples. We headed down to AJ's house on Thursday night and the next morning we went to Mesa, Phoenix, and then Gilbert. Out of the three the Gilbert one was everyones less favorite.

When we went to the Mesa open house, I was very unimpressed at the ugliness of the place. However, this time, I really like too ugly greens. It reminds me of my old Impala. The chairs and carpets are all the old puke green that I remember from long ago. I guess I liked it this time.

Then the next day we headed out to Roosevelt Lake. We towed the boat to AJ's on Thursday, stayed there 2 nights, then on Saturday we headed out to the lake. This was one of those trips where the weather was perfect. It was overcast most of the day with patchy clouds. The temperature was not too hot, maybe around 98-100 for a high, and the water was glassy all day.

About 5 till 4:00 a thunderstorm started to move into the area and we headed out. As we were loading out, the wind picked up. As we were tying the boat down and repacking the car the water was white capping allover the place. We headed out at the perfect time.

The lake was quiet all day long. There were very few other people on the water and we had good time. Mylinda had homework to do and didn't join us - but Carson stayed and played with us all day. Karren also went to AJ's, but didn't go to the lake with us. One of these times we will have to get her out there, but this wasn't the day.

AJ & Brittany came with us and their kids really enjoyed playing around on the water. Alan wanted to get on the raft and wouldn't stop saying he needed to go faster, until he tried it. Then he had enough and didn't want to ride with the older people that wanted the speed. The raft works best about 22-24 mph. Same with skiing. He liked 15 mph. It still works, but there isn't enough momentum to throw the raft out of the wake on turns.

The new car that we got for Terra towed the boat surprisingly well. It didn't seem to handle as well as the suburban did (3/4 ton vs 1=2 ton suspension), but the drive train did very well. The car had no problem with any of the hills and maintaining speed. The fuel milage suffered a bit. It normally gets 21-23 mpg, but towing the boat it got 11. The suburban would get 16-18 normally, but 12 towing. So on average this car performs better on the fuel.

We applied sun-screen many times, but still most people ended up getting a sunburn. Ethen was going to join us, but at the last minute he also had too much homework to do and took care of that task while we were on the water much like Mylinda did.

As you might expect, the younger kids loved the swimming. Hudson took to the water easily. Serra forgot that she could swim with her life jacket on and wouldn't venture out by herself, but still had a good time. We once again ended up with a hole in the raft main bladder. I don't know how to keep these things alive for very long. I end up needing a new bladder or raft every year due to a hole. This one seems to be in par with previous experience. Now to decide do I patch it and throw it away on the next trip because the patch didn't work, or just replace it now?

AJ & Kyle seemed to enjoy the raft the most. They took many turns playing around on it, and we had to fill up the raft about 5 times throughout the day. Both AJ and Kyle skied, and at the end of the day Crason tried the skis and did great. He got up on his first try and was up for 1-2 minutes prior to loosing his balance and dove into the water.

Pressure was on Rachel & Landen to try the raft, and after lunch Rachel finally tried it with AJ & Kyle. She had a blast and now wants to go back to the lake to do it again. I'm sure pressure will continue on Landen until he likes it. It seems to take a certain age where you brain decides to like more dangerous things. Ethen & Kyle both arrived at that place early, and Rachel has just gotten there herself.

Here is Maverick sleeping on the boat as we are rafting with the younger kids. They like to go slow and it seems to put everyone to sleep. Serra, Kyle, and Maverick all took a nap during these events.

All of the little kids wanted to also take a turn driving. They like to turn the steering wheel this way and that. At the slow boat speed, it really didn't make much of a difference to the raft.

This was the first lake trip of the season. This year time has been hard to come by. We installed a swim deck on the back of the boat this past winter, and it was incredibly nice. Everyone liked having it on the back of the boat. It allows more access to the water while providing for protection to the prop. It also provides for a larger work surface to air up the raft while on the water.
