Bread (2 loaves)           (Norma LeFevre 1966)

Mix together

  • 2¼ cups lukewarm liquid
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast
Stir until the yeast is dissolved.

Add

  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 7 to 7¼ cups flour
Add the 6 cups of the flour and stir with a spoon. Add ¾ cups flour and kneed by hand. Add additional flour as needed. Dough should be soft but not too sticky. Let it rise to twice its volume and kneed it down twice. Then mold it into loaves and place in a well greeced bread pan. Let it rise until it doubles in volume, then bake at 425° F for 25 to 30 minutes.
