Pan Biscuits           (Norma LeFevre 1966)

Mix together

  • 1 1/8 cups lukewarm liquid
  • 1½ tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoons dry yeast
Stir until the yeast is dissolved.

Add

  • 1 tablespoons shortening
  • 3½ to 3¾ cups flour
Add the 3 cups of the flour and stir with a spoon. Add additional flour as needed and kneed by hand. Dough should be soft but not too sticky. Let it rise to twice its volume and kneed it down twice. Mix and shape in smooth balls and let rise and bake at 375°F. for 35 to 40 minutes. Makes 1 dozen rolls.
